Development of eye tissue substitutes as restorative therapies and exploration of community-grounded clinical services
This subcluster will undertake research in digital health and outreach studies, as we respectfully understand how certain groups have had inequitable access eye care, and the replacement of corneal tissues in patients with severe corneal dystrophies is limited by access to corneal tissues from post-mortem donors. One way to overcome this is to develop synthetic corneal tissues.
Additionally, we will explore how partially-sighted people perceive the world through multi-sensory experiences. In particular, we will explore how partially-sighted people experience artistic creation through touch, smell, and hearing.
