University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Kevin is a medical student at the University of British Columbia, expected to receive his MD in 2027. He previously completed a Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Physiology at UBC Okanagan.

His research spans several areas of ophthalmology, with a particular focus on glaucoma, surgical outcomes, access to care, and medical education. Recent projects include evaluating outcomes following PreserFlo MicroShunt surgery, investigating rural and urban differences in follow-up and access to care after glaucoma surgery in British Columbia, examining the prevalence of falls among patients with age-related macular degeneration, and reviewing simulation-based training and curriculum development in ophthalmology. Through this work, he's developed a growing interest in research that addresses clinically relevant questions while also considering how care is delivered and how future ophthalmologists are trained. His goals are to continue contributing to research in glaucoma and ophthalmic surgery, explore innovations that improve patient outcomes, and help address barriers to high-quality eye care, particularly for patients in rural and underserved communities.
