Dr. Harshini Chakravarthy PhD

(She, Her, Hers)

Postdoctoral Fellow

Trainee

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Faculty of Medicine

Dr. Harshini Chakravarthy completed her Ph.D in Physiology from Michigan State University, USA. Her area of expertise is in retinal degeneration.

Recently, Dr. Chakravarthy has been studying the role of neuronal transmembrane proteins in retinal neuritogenesis, and the effects of high glucose on retinal neurons using an in vitro model of hyperglycemia.

If Dr. Chakravarthy were to collaborate with another reseacher in a different area, she would like to work with clinical researchers. Dr. Chakravarthy believes that translational research can be effective when her expertise in retinal cell and molecular biology is combined with a clinical perspective.

During her spare time, Dr. Chakravarthy enjoys reading and listening to popular science books, humorous travelogues, and fiction (mysteries and romantic comedies).
