Harjot Bhandol
(She, Her, Hers)
Medical Student
Trainee
Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
Faculty of Medicine
Ms. Bhandol completed her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology at the UBC. Recently, she worked with the Matsubara lab in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences using human retinal tissue to study Alzheimer's disease. Her project focused on understanding the role of glial cells like microglia via immunohistochemistry studies. She also worked on clinical research in St. Paul's Hospital for the Respirology department, analyzing the differential effects of a CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) modulator therapy on patients with cystic fibrosis. If Ms. Bhandol could collaborate with other types of researchers, she would work with clinical researchers. This collaboration would allow her to get more involved with the patient perspective in health and will therefore allow her to practice as a more informed physician.
